Rapid Thermoelectric Production Test
Similar to the Life cycler, I was called upon to speed up the process of our EZ tester. Its our end of line production test that verified units performed appropriately. Through intimate understanding of the thermoelectric effects and using source meters was able to take a typically 1 minute test down to around 2-4 seconds depending on module size. While it was theoretically possible to achieve even faster results it would result in over currenting our devices and for now a 30x improvement in test time allows us to focus on new bottlenecks in the production line.
Automated EZ tester
Current project and continuing from improving the speed of the EZ test above. Now the goal is to introduce more automation. Currently sent one production ready tester (Electroglas prober) to our factory. I developed the routine and sequences for testing an array of microTEC devices currently too small for our standard tester. These devices, which we are making about half a million a month… have needed lead wires attached and then removed which also resulted in a higher reject rate, can now be tested using the Fast EZ method!
