Welcome please have a look at the projects I have worked on throughout my career! If any questions please feel free to reach out.

PowerStrap Generators (Patent):

The PowerStrap Generator is a Thermoelectric Generator (TEG) device that converts waste heat off any pipe that is above local ambient temperature into usable electrical energy. This was one of the first projects I worked on in my career as an ME and received a patent# “US D869,407 S” for my contributions.

Main Roles: Mechanical design in Solidworks, thermal and electrical testing in the lab, building the test stand to simulate a hot pipe, developing a model to predict system performance under difference conditions then testing in an environmental chamber which consisted of data logging said conditions (changes in pipe temperature, ambient or windspeed).

Notable contributions:

Solidworks Macros that would auto add/subtract facets to an existing PowerStrap and fill in missing components with appropriate new components.

The Single Facet strap (Second Image) had a unique problem where we wanted a single strap to fit multiple pipe sizes. The overall solution was simple, get the different hole placements correct so when it was put onto a different sized pipe (standard industry sized pipe) the strap could be easily cut and locking pin moved to the appropriate hole. While it seemed like an easy task it turned out to be non trivial getting it right the first time. Clever drawings in Solidworks along with PVC pipe and 3D printed mock ups allowed us to get it right the first time!
